Turning Transformations:

Working with the Artistry of Nature

V6RlEK9A.jpeg

There is something truly amazing about the endless variety of wood grain and the impact that natural elements have upon it.

In 2014, I decided to stop waiting and start fully embracing my curiosity and desire to create with rare and unprocessed wood.

My name is Rick Jackson and I work with wood mostly through the avenue of woodturning and carving. The artistry and craftsmanship of woodturning has always been something that has fascinated me. For me the appeal wasn’t just about working with a lathe, but rather the total process from harvesting the wood; all the way to the endless possibilities of finishing techniques. I particularly enjoy working with Spalted and Burl woods. The beauty and challenge of working with these types of woods always seems to bring an unexpected reward. As I continue to develop and grow in both skill and creative expression with woodturning, my desire to offer more than just an item of function or beauty; but rather something that people value because of the continual discovery experience they encounter with it. Seeing and realizing something new every time they engage with a piece. I consider a great privilege in my life to be able to have this outlet of creative expression, one for which I am very thankful. I am also thankful for all those who have supported me and expressed their appreciation for my work.
